Chichester's Wednesday market to swap to a Sunday for one week only

For one week only Chichester's Wednesday market will be taking place on Sunday 26 November to make up for a lost day of trading in December.

The market, which is run by Bray Associates, will run as normal from 9am until 5pm in East Street and North Street.

The arrangement was agreed by Chichester District Council in partnership with Chichester City Council, the Chichester BID (Business Improvement District) and West Sussex County Council.

As part of the city's festive celebrations, Chichester welcomes a nine-day Christmas craft market which takes place between 2 and 10 December. It means that the Wednesday market would clash and so an alternative date was agreed.

The Wednesday market offers a wide range of stalls including:

  • green grocers
  • clothing plus handbags, belts, scarves and shoes;
  • plants and flowers
  • jewellery
  • bread, cakes and sweets
  • cheese and eggs
  • fresh fish
  • olives,
  • sausages
  • coffee,
  • greeting cards and paper plus handmade cards.
  • fudge
  • hand-made cushions
  • household goods such as crockery and kitchenware
  • watches, phone accessories
  • pet food.
