Festival of Chichester 16 June - 15 July

Visitors can expect an exciting and varied line up featuring local and international performers in the heart of the city at the Festival of Chichester . Also in the programme are book events, theatre, talks and poetry, exhibitions, walks and tours, cinema, open days and galas to suit all tastes and interests. Events will take place in various locations across Chichester. Tickets are available from Chichester Box Office at The Novium Museum.

Roman Dig in Priory Park 17 - 21 July

This summer, the council's archaeologist James Kenny and the Chichester and District Archaeology Society will be working to uncover more of the Roman history buried beneath Priory Park.This will be an extension of the dig that took place last year which uncovered three almost complete Roman buildings and attracted hundreds of spectators. People can learn more about the discoveries made on Saturday 21 July when the team will hold a special day for the public to put the work into context and explain what has been found.

Petworth Festival 17 July - 4 August

Petworth Festival will celebrate its 40th year this summer. Visitors can enjoy a special programme of events including classical music, jazz, film, comedy and family events at venues across Petworth.

Selsey Festival 25 July - 2 September

A number of community events put on by local groups and organisations will be taking place across Selsey throughout the summer holidays as part of the Selsey Festival . Events this year will include: music, exhibitions, outdoor cinema, shows, talks, displays and family activities at venues across Selsey.

Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO® bricks 28 July - 31 October

An exciting, interactive LEGO brick exhibition is coming to The Novium Museum this summer. Britannia takes visitors on a journey through iconic moments in British History from the Stone Age to the 21st Century. The exhibition features over 30 stunning models built by Bright Bricks, the only LEGO-certified professional building company in the UK, including the show stopping 8m long model of the Flying Scotsman. Using over 150,000 LEGO bricks, this is a must-see exhibition for the whole family. The exhibition will also include an interactive DUPLO brick play table, LEGO brick graffiti wall and a LEGO map of the UK.

Selsey Lifeboat Week 29 July - 5 August

Selsey Lifeboat Station is hosting a series of events to celebrate Selsey Lifeboat Week . Activities include: a walking treasure hunt, quiz night, tug-of-war, firework display, raft race and lots more.

West Dean Chilli Fiesta 10 - 12 August

The UK's biggest chilli festival is back again this year at West Dean Gardens. The Chilli Fiesta will feature a range of activities and entertainment including: live Latin music and dance, cookery demonstrations, gardening demonstrations, food and drink stalls, chilli plant sale, children's funfair, camping and more.

MADhurst 18 - 27 August

MADhurst is a ten day event featuring exhibitions, performances, workshops, picnics and family events around Midhurst. This celebration of art, music and creativity brings local talent together with the community.

Get Active Festival 16 September

Families can have fun while keeping fit at the Get Active Festival . Adults and children will be able to take part in a huge range of sports and activities on offer including: swimming, climbing, gymnastics, martial arts, racquet sports, archery, dance and golf at Westgate Leisure Centre and Chichester College.

Priory Park 100 22 - 30 September

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Priory Park in Chichester. A programme of events has been organised by the Friends of Priory Park to mark the centenary of this popular destination in Chichester. Events will include: a re-enactment of the siege of Chichester, music and theatre performances, sporting events, arts and crafts, a pop-up restaurant, vintage tea shop and lots more.

Velo South 23 September

A new 100 mile closed road sportive through the Goodwood Estate and around the South Downs National Park is coming to the district in September. Velo South is a challenging cycle ride with circa 1,700m of climbing, taking in the stunning panoramic views of the Chichester District and beyond. General and Fast Track entries are sold out but people can still enter through one of Velo South's official charities or as a company team in the Business 100 challenge.

Heartsmart Walks

For those who prefer a gentler exercise, the Heartsmart Walks run by the Chichester Wellbeing team will be running throughout the summer. The walks are led by volunteer Walk Leaders and are designed to cater for all ages and abilities. Most walks start at 10.30am and do not need to be booked. All the dates can be found in the programme, which can be picked up from libraries and from the Novium Museum.

Chichester Farmers' Market

The award-winning Chichester Farmers' Market has all the ingredients for a tasty barbecue or picnic this summer. The market boasts a range of products from local producers including: fruit and vegetables, meat, sausages, seafood, cheese, eggs, baked goods, gin, and lots more. Chichester Farmers' Market is held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 9am - 2pm in North Street and East Street.
