The site is one of Chichester District Council's Strategic Development Locations and has been identified in emerging policy for a minimum of 1,300 homes, including 30 per cent affordable housing, plus a range  of supporting facilities, including a new primary school, community facilities, allotments and an orchard.

If the application is approved, this will help towards delivering the housing requirement set out in the Council's adopted Local Plan.

The application, which proposes up to 1,300 new homes, is currently being looked at by Tangmere Parish Council and the site allocation is part of its Neighbourhood Plan, which has a detailed policy for the area. The Council is also currently carefully assessing the application, which is likely to be formally considered by the District Council's Planning Committee on 31 March 2021.

Members of the public will be able to watch the briefing and find out more about the outline planning application by going to View council meetings.
