Custom and self-build housing is housing commissioned and built by individuals or groups for their own use, either by building it themselves or working with builders and developers. "Custom build" is used here to include self build, which is a particular type of custom build where a person organises all the works himself. Custom build may be undertaken by an individual, a group, or a developer (who will customise a standard product to suit a purchaser). Further information can be found at the  Self Build Portal  and the  National Custom and Self-Build Association .

Councils are required to keep a custom build register to assess the interest in their districts. Chichester District Council itself does not have land to sell and any potential custom builder would have to buy at market value and have considerable funding to finance the build.

If you would like to register your interest please read the guidance notes before completing the form, as an incomplete application will not be accepted.
