Book an MOT, taxi meter or fitness test
If you have any questions, you can make an enquiry about an MOT, taxi meter or fitness test.
We provide independent MOT, taxi meter and fitness tests for:
- cars;
- vans;
- minibuses;
- motorhomes;
- taxi and private hire vehicles, and;
- light commercial vehicles.
The council does not undertake repairs or servicing but will advise you of any work needed to bring your vehicle up to the necessary legal standard.

Test durations
MOT testing takes approximately 1 hour. Fitness and meter tests take 30 minutes each. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before the booking. Please do not arrive before this time.
During the test, customers can wait on site or return to collect their vehicle. Vehicles cannot be left at our test centre after the test has been completed.

Our testing station is conveniently located in Stane Street, Westhampnett, Chichester, PO18 0NS.
Testing station opening times
We offer appointments from:
- Monday through to Friday, 08:00 - 15:00 pm.
Amend or cancel a booking
If you book an MOT online you will receive a confirmation email. This email will provide a link to allow you to amend your booking.
If you book by phone and do not provide an email address, you will have to phone 01243 534804 to make an amendment or cancellation.
