We provide independent MOT, taxi meter and fitness tests for:

cars;
vans;
minibuses;
motorhomes;
taxi and private hire vehicles, and;
light commercial vehicles.

The council does not undertake repairs or servicing but will advise you of any work needed to bring your vehicle up to the necessary legal standard.

Test type and package fees

Class 5L MOT	£59.55	13-16 passenger seats, up to 5,000kg gross weight.
Class 5L MOT	£80.65	More than 16 passenger seats, up to 5,000kg gross weight.
Class 7 MOT	£58.60	Goods vehicles over 3,000kg up to 3,500kg gross weight.
MOT & fitness test package	£81.50	Book your MOT and Fitness Test together and save money.
MOT, fitness & meter test package	£107.10	Book your MOT, Fitness & Meter Test together and save money.
Fitness test only	£37.85	Only required if the vehicle has a meter.
Meter test only	£25.60	Please note the test must be carried out within 5 working days of your MOT, if applicable, taking place.
Fitness & meter test only	£63.45	Please note the test must be carried out within 5 working days of your MOT, if applicable, taking place.

Test durations

MOT testing takes approximately 1 hour. Fitness and meter tests take 30 minutes each. We ask that you arrive 10 minutes before the booking. Please do not arrive before this time.

During the test, customers can wait on site or return to collect their vehicle. Vehicles cannot be left at our test centre after the test has been completed.
