You can report an unauthorised encampment using this form. You can also report the matter to Sussex Police on 101, unless there is an emergency in which case you should call 999 if the encampment is occurring at the time.
We will attend and record details of the encampment and asses what powers the Council can use. If the encampment is on private land, the Council will liaise with the landowner and Sussex Police. Should the police attend, they will also asses if they are able to use their powers regarding the encampment.
If travellers are camping on land that they own, this will be passed to our planning enforcement team to investigate.
