What is 'My council tax'?

My council tax is a new online service for council tax customers that allows you to manage your own council tax account online. My council tax allows you to access our services at a time convenient to you.

Using this facility you will be able to;

sign up to paperless billing
view and print bills and recovery notices
set up a direct debit to pay your council tax, or change an existing direct debit
tell us that you are moving house
tell us that you are moving to a new property within the district
apply for or cancel a single persons discount
apply for student discount or exemption
apply for a severely mentally impaired discount or exemption
view your own council tax account, including payments made and payments due
change personal details including name and contact details
view property details, including council tax bandings and annual charges
if you are in receipt of housing benefit or council tax reduction you can view a summary of your claim, and view your entitlement

What do I need to access 'My council tax' account?

To access all features of my council tax you will need to create your own my council tax account. To do this you will need the following;

your council tax account number and name (as shown on your bill)
post code
a valid email address

Do I have to create an account?

Not all features of this new service require you to have your own account. You can do the following without having to create your own account;

set up a direct debit to pay your council tax account, or change an existing direct debit
tell us that you are moving house
tell us that you are moving to a new property within the district
apply for or cancel a single persons discount
apply for student discount or exemption
apply for a severally mentally impaired discount or exemption
view property details, including council tax bandings and annual charges

Yes. This new system is simple to use and provides very clear instructions.
