Loss of water supply in some areas of the district

Some residents within Chichester District are currently without water (14 May 2023) and Southern Water is working hard to resolve this.

The incident was caused by unusually low levels of chlorine being detected at Southern Water's Hardham water supply works on Saturday. Although this did not impact on customers, Southern Water had to shut down the site and as a consequence, are currently unable to supply water to some customers in West Sussex.

They are doing everything they can to fix this and return the plant to service. They hope supplies will begin to return early this evening, and be back to normal within the next 24 to 36 hours.

They have been making deliveries to the most vulnerable customers on their priority services register, and have a fleet of 19 tankers already supporting hospitals and supply where most needed. Bottled water stations are available at:

Billingshurst Football Club, RH14 9PG
Toat Café & Hand Car Wash, Stane Street, Pulborough, RH20 1DN
Horsham Park and Ride, Worthing Road, RH13 0AR
