Consultation - Draft Statement of Gambling Policy 2025-2028

The Gambling Act 2005 requires Chichester District Council, as a Licensing Authority, to publish a Statement of Policy. The current policy has had effect since 2022. It is now necessary to prepare and consult upon a new policy in time for publication by the 1 February 2025.

Our 10 week public consultation period begins on 8 July 2024, and this will close at midnight on the 15 September 2024.

Your views are really important in helping to shape the policy so that not only is it compliant with legislation and guidance, but also adequately reflects local circumstances and ensures the council continues to discharge its duty to exercise the Licensing Authority's functions under the Act.

When submitting any comments on the revised policy, please include:

  • Reference to the paragraph numbers;
  • Your name;
  • The organisation being represented (if appropriate); and
  • Your contact details.

Please be aware that all responses are made publicly available. If you intend to include information of a commercially sensitive nature, please make sure this is clearly stated.

Please submit any comments in writing, labelled as 'Gambling Policy Consultation Response' to:

  • David Knowles-Ley
    Licensing Manager
    Growth & Place
    Chichester District Council
    East Pallant House
    1 East Pallant
    Chichester
    PO19 1TY

or by email to: licensing@chichester.gov.uk

The consultation period

At the end of the consultation period, all responses will be carefully considered and included in a Summary of Responses paper. The proposed policy for 2025-2028 will then be prepared and presented to a meeting of council on the 19 November 2024 for final approval. We would like to thank you in anticipation of any comments that you may have.
