Boatman licences

A licence will be required if you wish to be in charge of, and or, navigate a pleasure boat. You will need to submit an application form with the relevant fee. On initial application you will need to have a medical and take an examination.

New application and Renewal is £26.26.

Pleasure boat licences

Pleasure boats that carry 12 or less people and those who operate them are required to be licensed by the council. The licences are issued subject to conditions concerning safety and the areas in which they operate. Along with the application form B01, you will need to submit an insurance certificate and Engineers Report. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency licence boats carrying more than 12 passengers.
