Make an enquiry about hiring council land for an event

If you would like to enquire about use of a car park for an event, please visit hire of car parks (opens new window)

We will respond to your enquiry within ten days, and providing the date and venue are suitable and available for your event we will ask for an Event Application Form to be completed.

Event Application Form 2024-25 (Word doc) [190KB]

If you wish to provide licensable activities as part of the event then it is likely that you will require a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) or a Premises Licence under the Licensing Act 2003. For further information please refer to  Temporary Event Notice .

Damage deposit fee

All events are charged a Damage Deposit fee. This is returned in full providing no damage occurs to the land (or any of its fixings) during the event. Should the damage be extensive and exceed the damage deposit paid, an invoice will be sent to the organiser for the balance of the repair. Site inspections can take place before and after an event to assess the event area.

The level of risk is dependent on the size of the event and how many vehicles, machinery or temporary constructions will be on site for the event. The greater the size/weight and amount of vehicles increase the risk of damage.

Hire Charges

Commercial and non-charity events will be charged a Hire of Land fee. There is no daily hire charge for fundraising events organised by registered charities. Organisers must provide their charity number to be eligible for this exemption.

The hire of land charges relate to how large an event area is to be used. This should be indicated on a site plan when organisers apply to hire land.
